Air Niugini - 757 Services To Brisbane/Sydney

Air Niuguni will commence 757-200 ops on its POM-BNE-POM (in addition to BNE-SYD-BNE) services effective 12DEC07 (Source: Air Niugini and Qantas websites). The schedule for the first 757-200 flight (WED 12DEC07) into Brisbane is as follows:

PX003/QF350 POM/BNE 09.45/12.45
PX004/QF349 BNE/POM 13.55/16.55

The 757 will be crewed by Iceland Air pilots but I would imagine the cabin crew would be from Air Niugini.

I believe Air Niugini are leasing TF-FII, an Iceland AIr 757-256 with winglets (see below):

I have read reports in the media that the aircraft will have PX's livery applied before year's end.

Currently PX flies a 767-300 (Viva Macau's 767-300 B-MAW) into BNE most days with the Fokker 100 operating services every Wednesday. Air Niugini also flies BNE-SYD-BNE on a limited basis.

It will certainly be nice to see regular 757 ops in Australia once again (wasn't Royal Tongan the last regular operator of pax 757 into Australia? - if you exclude the RTW charter flights we have had over the past few years).

Yes saw the Viva Macau B763 the other morning in Brisbane & thought it a bit odd! Didn't think Viva Macau operarted to BNE, & now you've answered that question! Thanks!

Is the Icelandair 757 one of the planes that was operated for Globespan? Will it be a bit more reliable for Air Niugini?
