Hey all,
I was browsing through the photo database, and actually came across a few cockpit pictures of the mock-up of the Boeing 2707.
So, it got me interested about the whole history of the 2707. I was reading a bit about it on different websites, and navigated over to Wikipedia, which claims that there were 115x orders for the 2707 by different airlines, among which are PanAm, Northwest, TWA, American, Braniff, United, Eastern, Delta, Continental, etc etc.
My question is....does anyone know anything about those orders for 2707?? Were they ever official, or just signed LOI's?? Or....is that all BS posted to Wikipedia??
I'd be interested to know if airlines like PanAm and NWA actually placed official orders for the 2707, because the whole Boeing SST project has always fascinated me despite never having made it past mock-ups and initial designs.

I'm pretty sure that, like the orders they placed for Concorde, they were just LoI's since the 2707 was still under development at the time.

What orders were taken for the USA supersonic called the "Discard", because it was, were letters of intent to buy.
I dont remember reading about $$$ that was taked on deposit.

I would think any deposits taken would have been very small since the plane was upwards of a decade away from entering service when those orders/LoIs were placed.

According to Wikipedia (not the best source, I know), they only ever ordered 3x of em. Again according to Wikipedia, the largest orders were for TWA with 10x, and PanAm with 15x.

I know that for Canada, AC "committed to" or 'indicated an interest in" 6 Boeing 2707 and 4 Concorde circa 1969-70. There was even paintings of these aircraft in AC colours when the then-new Terminal 2 opened in YYZ in the early 70's.
There was at one point 74 such "commitments" for Concordes from many of the airlines mentioned above. Not sure about similar commitments for the Boeing 2707.
Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

74 commitments from 16 airlines. At cancellation, 2707 had 115 orders from 25 airlines.
