DL MD-88 In New Livery, Looks Great

I have to admit that I was skeptical of the new DL livery when I first saw it but, it's slowly starting to grow on me. I saw my first MD-80 in the new colors yesterday at BOS and I have to say it looked great. Thus far I think my favorite plane in the new colors are the CRJ-900s. The livery is definitely a little boring but, it isn't offensive either. Any opinions?

I´ve never liked any of Delta´s liveries. The new one is no exception. And the MD80 is particularly boring. Its a white jet with a painted tail and a little dark paint at the belly - so what?

I'm not syaing I don't like DL's scheme, but compared to the other majors it does pale in comparison given the fact that it is 95% white.

UA, AA, US and NW have all gor somewhat nice schemes, AA and (both pre and post 9/11) UA are my favourites in the USA.
CO is quite like DL except for some reason it is a little bit more interesting.

C'mon DL- Add some swirls or a cheatline or something to the fuselage!!

Its very boring, thats for sure. My opinion is that they shouldn't have changed the livery on any of their planes. The last livery was very beautiful in my opinion.

For me the previous livery was the most beautiful, but I'm starting to like this new one more and more. At first it looked horrible, but there's just something sexy in the widget on the tail of the MadDog.

I totally agree with you, 777way.

Among all other major airliner, DL´s latest livery is the most beautiful, in my opinion. I wonder when AA is changing its own livery. That silver with red and blue stripes became too old.

I'm no fan of Eurowhite either, but so f'n what, the new colors are more practical than the old ones. Compared to the Deltaflot, this livery only needs 4 colors instead of 8, takes one day less to be applied and thus reduces out-of-service time by 20%, and it weighs less, thus also reducing fuel burn. So in the end, as bland as it is, it saves DL some serious money.

I think the new scheme is stylish but, you can barely see any of the blue on the belly so from a distance it basically looks like the scheme it just replaced but with a different tail.

While the new scheme certainly isn't ugly; it is a bit on the bland side except for the tail.

Personally, the basic layout looks way too similar to what US rolled out 2 years ago (except for the blue engine cowlings on the US planes). It's almost as if someone over at DL raided Doug Parker's briefcase back when US was trying to take over DL a few months ago.

I also saw the MD80 in new colors for the first time the other day in ATL. One thing I noticed is the ugly color change from beige to white at the bottom of the fuselage. With that said, it definately looks much cleaner and sharper than the old livery. Fits the aircraft well.

I think there were so many complaints about the new livery because it was being anticipated for months and everyone was waiting for something great. Then they saw it and didn't like it. But now, people seem to be warming up to it.

Sure that wasn't the lighting or something? I've stood right next to it on the ground and can tell you it's pure white up until the blue part.

A lot of people have criticized the updated widget colouring, but I think it is a simple modern take on the traditional widget. That being said, I still think the new widget placed upright on the tail (as in the 60's to 80's paintscheme), would be a better interpretation. "Negative Space" logos are far too in vogue.

If you don't see a difference in tones starting in the middle of the fuselage you must be color blind. By no means is it beige. I couldn't think of a better word, I thought just about anyone could interperet what I was saying. I guess not.  Yeah sure

Cargo planes have more exciting paint jobs. DELTA letters look like they were typed on, too much space between them. My 10 year old could have come up with a better livery. As not my favorite livery, the last one was much better.
