The new IND midfield terminal is on schedule to open before Thanksgiving 2008. This WTHR story includes two videos. The video titled "Airport construction tour" is a video tour of the inside of the new building. It will be a huge change for the city.

Is it true that the new terminal has basically the same number of gates as the old one? If this is true why wouldn't they add more gates, or is this just the first phase and there are more planned.

Old terminal has 34 gates. This one has 40 gates. And this is phase one. Not sure when phase two gets built but that takes this terminal out to 60 gates. I am wondering if they'll be able to have more than one jet per gate like NW does at gates A5-A8 at the current terminal. They have two jets per gate there. I would guess they'd be able to double up the CRJs but can't swear to it.

I think there will be more than enough room to park more than one jet at a gate..regional jets that is. If you look at the spacing between the doorways on the new concourses (that will eventually be where the jetways get attached), there will be plenty of room.
