The first test flight of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is scheduled before the end of the year, but is there more information on the exact date already? Any update on the programme would be welcome.

The last (8th of November) official update was that:

Quote:
Sukhoi Superjet 100's airframe tests have been completed, offering solid ground for permissions in terms of static strength, required for the first flight.

Since July 2007 a series of airframe tests was conducted at operational load. This test scenario helps to promptly obtain all the essential static strength permissions vital for the first flight. Prior to the certification of the aircraft, tests on design load are ahead.

So far the Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute (TsAGI) has undergone wing box tests involving two maximal loading cases and a series of tests of Sukhoi Superjet 100's hinge joints of the main landing gear (MLG), engine pylon being a part of the airframe, and fuselage hermeticity. Furthermore, the fuselage has already experienced pressure testing.

Novosibirsk (Russia) and Latvia hosted isolated composite materials assembly parts tests on design loads. The loading degree was increased with due account for extra safety factors that have to do with the application of composite materials and attachment of composite assembly units to the aircraft itself.

November 2, 2007 witnessed combined tests of aircraft horizontal and vertical tail surfaces.

All test operations saw no collapse or destruction patterns. Besides, no plastic residual stresses were detected. All in all, the results demonstrate decent convergence between experimental and design data.

Sorry, ENU, although I'm an insider, but I don't know what is the SuperJet 100 first flight date. We hope it will make to the sky till the end of 2007.
