Yes, it came from EK and was supposed to enter QR mainline fleet but it is now with the Amiri Department. Normally Amiri A/C are registered with A7-HHx but this one is A7-AFE which fell directly into the A300 regs.

That's not necessarily true. Don't forget Amiri Flight operates for both the royal family and the Qatar government. Granted there is a an overlap there but actually not that many off the Amiri flight birds follow the A7-HH* naming convention.
