As of now i am 100 mqm short of 25000 which is the minimum to get to elite on DL. I was wondering if there was some way to get 100 mqm and not have to fly anywhere, because I dont anticipate flying again till febuary or march. If anybody knows of any way possible to get those 100 mqm miles it would be a great help. Thanks

If I were you, I'd go find a cheap flight anywhere just to get the 100 MQMs. Even if you fly from ATL-SAV and you will get a minumin of 500 MQMs on that leg. As for getting 100 MQMs without flying, I don't think it's possible.

MQMs are only obtained by either 1) flying or 2) having a DL Gold or Platinum Amex....(spending threshold bonuses)

At this point in the year, you're pretty much stuck to flying. The iDine promotion (where you spend $25 at 4 participating restaurants earns you 1000 MQMs) will probably not post until after January 1 now (and that's what counts, not when you ate) and same with the Amex. Best bet is to hop on a quick round trip and get the miles.

Exactly - I was going to be 3,000 MQM shy of Platinum this year so did a JFK-LAX-JFK on Saturday to secure status.

If you are only 100 MQMs short, DL will probably give you Silver status anyway. They have done this in the past automatically with Skymiles members who were very close to the status thresholds.

This is more of an exception now as opposed to the norm.

do a run, you can go to Long Beach or San Diego for $137 all in, thats if you are in the Scottsdale area.
There are plenty of non-flying ways to get miles, but I don' think they will post in time.

I personally doubt it, to be an FO you need 25,000 miles, he doesn't have it. If you really want it to the run. You have 27 more days to get it done.

Alitalia, only the Platinum Amex Delta gives you MQM. The Gold one gives you only Bonus Miles, and you need to reach $ 25,000 a year for 10,000 MQM's or another $ 25,000 (means $ 50,000 on a year) for another 10,000 MQM (on Platinum only).

As per other comments, at this stage of the year, you should fly. I'm short of 55 MQM (!) to Platinum and arrange a flight to get it. Hope they upgrade me on next saturday (LOL)

The iDine IIRC finished by November 30.

Agree as if they do not allow him, he will be a general member during 365 days !

Didn't know the iDine was done. Oh well...no restaurants I ate at were iDine here (either too expensive or the food was less than acceptable...)
Last year I ended up having to do a BOS-ATL-ONT-SLC-BOS daytrip to get Silver. Fortunately no run this year; I'll be ending the year with 35,000 MQMs (no mileage runs in there this year). Helped that I was flying on quite a few 150% MQM fares this year - those really add up quickly - this ended up getting me about 5-7000 extra MQMs.

And mine is that i use to travel very frequently US-Brazil always on I or M (both 150%). So anchieve Platinum were not difficult, and i should say, DL upgrades are perfect on domestic routes like JFK-SEA and JFK-ATL among others !
Always work as Gold, imagine if i'm Plat

As a follow up/clarification to all this. If you secure Medallion Status for 2007, what does that really give you? Do you receive the status for all of 2008 with possible upgrades, etc?
If you need 100 miles and do not plan on flying until February or March, it may not be worth spending even $137 for a ticket to secure status, you think?
I had thought that if you received Medallion status for 2007, you would be available for upgrades and be able to use the shorter lines and boarding processes only until February 08.
I will reach Silver Medallion with my next flight to ATL. Will that give me Silver status for all of 2008?
I have over 150,00 miles with DL (over the past 8 years) and still am unclear on the whole process/rules, etc.

As far as I know, yes. If you earn status in 2007, you'll have it through 2008. I crossed 25,000 MQM in early November, and benefits seem to have started within a few days of that flight (rows are available on the seat maps that previously were not).
My card arrived the other day. It says 'valid through 2/09'.
Hope that helps.

It flew at an altitude of six feet for a distance of four and a half feet. Then we discovered rain makes it catch fire.

The status is on expires the following calendar year. For example if you make Silver/Gold/Plat. in July you have that status through the end of the current year and all of the following year.
