Hi everyone!
I've booked several segments on SQ, the tickets are issued already so I called SQ to book the seats and found out in Economy I can give only preference, in business I can't book it because it's only SIN-KUL, and on Silk Air in business I can't pre-book at all..
My question is, is there any way I can book my preferred seats now if I fly in February, I mean I don't even want those "hot" seats like emergency or something, I just like to seat in the last row of 3 on 744, as far back on 777, and 2nd row of business on 777 and 320, all on the right side.
I'm just particular about the right side and seating by the window, that's all, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem, was surprised to find out that such a good airline doesn't provide this service..
Any ideas on how to solve this, well only my so far, problem?
Thanks for any info, guys!

AFAIK, if you book the flights through internet, SQ will allow you to choose the seat. Otherwise, you can choose the seat when you're checking in online hours before the flights. I'm not sure about SilkAir though.

Indeed, only online booking gives you seat selection in Y.
SIN-KUL only has Y and F, no seat selection since they don't even know what 777 will be operating the flight until closer to the flight. You may end up in regional F on SQ* series, regional J sold as F on SR* series or Spacebeds sold as F on SV* series.

SQ in general don't let you choose seats. My company's travel desk automatically requests an aisle seat toward the fwd part of the Raffles cabin every time I travel (and upper deck if on the 744), but I can never make a specific seat request.
If I don't like my seat, I've usually had no problem in calling the dedicated PPS Club number. Otherwise, just check in online (which you can do up to 48hr in advance) and you may have some luck.

I think I'll do just that, I'm just afraid I won't be able to while in Philippines, I'll be on Mindanao island, not sure about the internet access...
I've created KrisFlyer number just for purpose of checking-in online before the flights, but I want the miles to go to my Miles&More account, anyway, is that a problem?
Will I be able to check-in onlmine for LHR-SIN flight if I fly on BD from BRU first? (it's on one ticket). My purpose of checking online would only be seat selection...

Internet access is not a problem in any part of Asia, even in the most remote areas.

Mmm, good question. I believe someone once told me that if I joined UA's Mileage Plus for the purpose of checking in online, they would credit the miles to MP rather than to my KrisFlyer account. Not sure if this is the same case with SQ.

You can choose seats in advance for any business/first booking on SQ metal, awards included, KUL excluded.

I have been in quite some ratholes there, internet is available unless you are in very rural areas. For examole my wife's small hometown has numerous internet cafes.

Use your PNR and name for online check-in, if your Krisflyer is 100% name match to the ticket, once associated with the booking it's difficult to get out. It even finds its way to bookings made without KF number, great for KF members, annoying for those who credit elsewhere.
I nowadays book SQ with lastname/firstname+middle initial since lastname/firstname causes this KF number to show up automatically.
