The County of Sacramento began operating Mather Airport as a public use airport on May 5, 1995. Consistent with the County Airport System Plan, approved by your Board,
Mather’s role is to accommodate air cargo with some general aviation activity. The noise
Resulting from these air cargo operations is perceived, by some, to adversely impact their homes. In response, the Sacramento County Airport System, in coordination with the FAA, has pursued and implemented multiple noise abatement procedures for Mather
Airport. The actions proposed will enhance noise compatibility in the vicinity of
Sacramento Mather Airport by introducing measures which will, or have the potential to,
reduce the impacts of aircraft noise on the residents and citizens of the Counties of Sacramento, El Dorado and surrounding jurisdictions.
