Delta jet makes emergency landing in New York
NEW YORK, Aug 3 (Reuters) - A Delta (NYSE:DAL - news) airlines passenger jet made an emergency landing at New York's Kennedy airport on Tuesday about 10 minutes after taking off from nearby La Guardia airport, officials said.
All 132 passengers and seven crew members aboard Delta Flight 305 bound for Atlanta were safely evacuated by emergency chute onto the runway, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac said.
She said the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit of the Boeing 757 shortly after takeoff and decided to land at Kennedy airport. The plane landed at 8.42 a.m. EDT (1242 GMT).
A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said there were some minor injuries, but that could not be confirmed with the airline.
A spokesman for the airline was not immediately available for comment.

Hmm...I wonder what caused the smoke in the cockpit. I'm glad there wasn't a more serious accident.
