Here's a partial overview of EA terminal. I know there's a website with old airports configuration, but I can't remember its name right, so hopefully someone else might to retrieve it...

They were pretty much the only airline out of B (there was no A...) and C, and although EA was the largest tenant of D there were other airlines as well (Air Florida, for example).

As far as "control", I'm not sure, but at one point Dade County Aviation Dept. took control of all gates at MIA.

Wow!!! Lots of memories there. We used to go to the airport post office often. I can't read the map too well, but out of curiousity, where was AA and how big was their operation at MIA?

Google search? They flew from MIA to SDQ (and flew from SDQ to Madrid, Rome, and San Juan).

Quoting Sflaflight (Reply 9):
Who were TAN?

Transportes Aéreos Nacionales from Honduras; they were subsumed into SAHSA which later went out of business in the mid-1990's.

There are definitely pictures of TAN and Quisqueyana in the database:

If I'm not mistaken, AA did not serve MIA at the time.

No, but Eastern's area was essentially the same.

Isn't Quisqueyana the one that operated connie's between San Juan and the Dominican republic in the 70's and 80's?

AA has served Miami since at least 1979 prior to the Eastern take over of Latin/South American routes AA had 19 daily flights I remember 727's and DC 10's back then.

EA sold the Latin American routes to AA in 1990,
after that they only operated out of concourse B
until the shutdown in January 1991.
EA purchased the Latin American routes
from Braniff I in May or June 1982 after
the bankrupty. Ironic how AA has the
the former BN routes to South America
and the BN DFW hub.

There was no A. That is concourse B.

Concourse C is still in use but only has gates on one side as opposed to both sides having jetbridges.
