Ok, lets try THIS again since my post got deleted....

It looks like an APU fire to me. No smoke was coming out of any of the emergency exits at all. It could also be an engine fire on the #2 engine.

I used to have a car that smoked like that airplane every time I started it. I had to get a new one.

Hmm.. can anybody provide more detailed info on this? Flight number/Date/outcome? Did the plane just go out of service, or was the interior damaged?

Saudi MD 90 with 125 Passengers and crew who all escaped. SV316 flying Madinah-Cairo. Tail end completely burned according to some sources, caused by fuel leak, aircraft landed safely and was evacuated.Happened on August 8, 2005.

Off topic, but what kind of car did you have, and what did you replace it with?

MD-90 ???

The quality of the film is pretty bad, but to me it looks like JT8D engines and not V2500.

I thought all MD-90's were equipped with V2500's but I could be wrong.

Anyone sure on this?

No, those are definetely V2528-D5s... And also, the MD80s have 1 window between window exits and the MD90 has 2

There seemed to be all smoke and no fire.

Also not clear if engine or tail (APU?) fire?.

I wound say it looked fixable. However if they sell off the MD90, it could provide a parts source.

...... "Yeah why didn't he climb in the belly to get his tripod out of his suitcase to provide us with some steady images"  Yeah sure

Come on, give the man a break. He just walked off an airplane that is on fire!

And they all obviously stopped to grab their oversized hand baggage! The idiots were lucky the fire didn't spread and fry the lot of them. What were the F/As thinking???
