Quoting D328 (Thread starter): What is the most often delayed flight or route?
According to DOT data from Qtr 3. the most delayed flight in the country was Delta flight 1667 from JFK-MCO. Out of 51 flights operated during the quarter, 48 of them operated as delayed with an average of 95 minutes for each delay.
Number 2 on the list was Skywest/DL connection flight 4020 from SLC-MEM which was delayed 93% of the time. Somewhat ironic, considering SLC has consistently been ranked as the number one on time airport in the country for a long time. http://www.bts.gov/programs/airline_..._tables/2007_10/html/table_06.html

IIRC, DL and contract carriers usually have most of the top 25 delayed flights in the country each quarter. I do now know why this is.
It's also strange that while CO and their Expressjet flights have few on the list, the ones that do make the list have some of the longest average delays of any. DAB-EWR averages 2 hours late!

Quoting Mir (Reply 5): I read a few months ago that the most delayed flight was an EWR-ORD flight (or might have been ORD-EWR) on AA.
It usually changes each month to a different flight, as these stats are kept monthly.
However, this month's "winner" is lucky that it didn't have a 100% delayed rate, as the most-delayed flight generally is delayed 100% of the month. There must have been one day where it somehow made it out on time.

Impressive that on that entire list, UA only makes it once.

Amazing - drop the N and you have ASA...which really is always delayed.
Well even tough all the data has been said already, I think DL4379 ATL-DAB (or whatever the last flight into DAB is) is usually delayed, but it has been getting better.

Quoting Nzrich (Reply 12): Yes and the airline a lot love to bag US Airways only makes it on twice !!! So they did well too !!!
Keep in mind that just because they aren't on that list a lot doesn't mean they are doing well in their overall on time performance. Delta mainline is doing much better than both US Airways and United in overall on-time performance stats. Delta currently ranks number 5 in on time departures, United ranks 13, and US Airways ranks 15th. ASA isn't doing too hot though, at number 21.

Yeah, but who cares when the flight leaves? Isn't a bit more important when it arrives? In that category, DL's down to 7th (but still tops among the legacies) and OH and EV occupy 2 of the bottom 3 positions, with only US mainline separating them. No other carrier has such a large disparity (or really a sizable one at all) between its regionals and mainline. http://www.transtats.bts.gov/Oneway....=CAT&Percent_Flag=0&Display_Flag=0

What about flights like JFK - BOS, IAD, etc flight with max flying time of 45 mins or so? There are various flights operating during the busy evening hours eg to BOS with Jetblue for instance. I doubt that those planes get priority hence a flight that is sheduled with 1h20mins block time eg could waste at least an hour just taxing?

Totally agree unless you travel on those top delayed flights then you wont be very happy with DL either ..
Quoting Mir (Reply 16): It's not their on-time performance that people love to bag. Smile
Yes but i think its an airline that will only improve .. The flights i have had on them have been great better than the other legacy carriers i had to endure .. After reading the comments on this site i went in with low expectations of US and was very pleasantly surprised !!!

Delta Air Lines!
I flew on it. First it was in Buffalo (3 hours delay) then flew to Cincinnati and delayed for 4 hours before aboard flight to Los Angeles. Supposed to be in LA by 2pm and got there 9pm, we missed our baseball game at Anaheim Stadium that night
Back to Buffalo. On time LAX to Salt Lake City, delayed 2 hours before aboard flight to Atlanta before transferred to other plane for Buffalo. Was scheduled to be in Buffalo around 9pm (arrived around 1am)
