DL L1011-1's To Ord?

Apparently, DL L-1011's will begin service from ATL-ORD and back on Apr. 1 until Dec. I found this when checking flight status for future dates. Does anyone here know if its true, or if theyve been to ORD before??

DL has flown L1011's into ORD on and off for many years.

They're bringing back to ORD? Cool! I don't think they've flown them in here regularly for a few years. America West also started flying 757's here after like 2 years of flying 737's and A320/319's. Anyway, is DL supposed to keep the Tristars that long. I thought they'd be gone by March.

The retirement date has been shifting back and forth now for about a year. Delta has been saying August 2001 and last month they said they wanted to hang on to 3 -250s for route expansion since they didn't have the aircraft to replace them yet.

They are going to fly 1 Tristar a day from Atlanta.Its a 200 series aircraft and the flight leaves Atlanta at 5:10 p.m. and arrives at Chicago at 6:14. Good day!

That's great news! I thought they were no longer going to fly into ORD with L1011s. I know they discontinued the L1011 flights about six months ago so this is great! And, yes it is nice to see a America West 757 back at ORD.

I used to fly on L1011's a lot between ORD and ATL and back, and I gotta tell you, I couldn't stand flying on them domestically:

1) They take forever to load and unload, and the flights were consistently delayed 10 minutes here 15 minutes there as the gate agents came through to count empty seats.

2) I still have a sour taste in my mouth from the time we pushed back in ATL and had a 45 minute delay because the ramp guys couldn't get the little push back tug vehicle or whatever it's called unconnected from the plane's wheels. I kid you not, they couldn't get it fixed until the THIRD maintenance crew showed up. Old planes lead to hard-to-fix problems.

45 minutes to disconnect the tug? Man, I wonder what happened there. I don't think that was due to the plane being old though, or if it had anything to do with the plane at all- but then again I've never pushed back an L10 so what do I know?

well, your probably right, had nothing to do with the age of the aircraft, but it's still guilt by association in my mind, and that's what counts!!
