Just noticed that FlyteComm is now showing HAL1086 planned for tonight for HNL-MSY. This should be the flight carrying the University of Hawaii Warriors football team to play in the Sugar Bowl on New Years Day. Currently shows a departure time of 5:31pm HST and an arrival of 5:21am CST tomorrow morning. According to the HNL RareBirds blog, the plan was to use N590HA, which has had a UH logo added in the same way that other aircraft have Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks logos.

Good luck for the MSY folks to catch this one.

Over the next few days, you should also expect to see additional charter flights operated by Aloha, Hawaiian, and Omni.

For Hawaiian expect the same schedule departing HNL on 12/29 and 12/30 (both fan charters).

Aloha has one leaving HNL this afternoon (12/25) with fans; 2 leaving on 12/28 with the Warrior Marching Band, UH Cheerleaders and Rainbow Dancers; and a 4th leaving on 12/29 with more fans (private charter).

Not sure about the Omni schedules but MSY is going to look a little like HNL for a few days!! 2 of the Aloha charters are on the leased 738 so expect to see that hybrid livery....and if we're lucky the Wyland Plane will make an appearance.

The 763 in the air tonight is showing an 0500 or so local time arrival...I won't be up for that arrival, though I see the a/c is staying here at MSY all day. I also see HA a/c here on 12/30 and 12/31 arriving at 1055 local both days. Also an overnighter on 1/1 to 1/2 departing at 1100 local 1/2 no doubt carrying the team.

Haven't seen any arrival times for Aloha a/c...if someone could post those, I'd appreciate it. And in return, I'll post whatever pictures I can grab here at MSY.

I don't know if I saw the registration wrong when I made the post yesterday or if they have 2 aircraft with the UH logo, but I believe that the actual aircraft that took the team to MSY is N591HA. I went out to Elliott on Christmas morning and got pictures of 591 with the UH logo. Photos are on the blog.

Thanks for that, we intend to! I'm leaving Hawaii on Friday for the Big Easy!

Quoting Tom in NO (Reply 3):

Correct. It will depart the night of the 26th and ferry to LAX.

Quoting Tom in NO (Reply 3):
. Also an overnighter on 1/1 to 1/2 departing at 1100 local 1/2 no doubt carrying the team.

Correct again. The first flight on the 1/2 departing MSY at 0930 will carry fans. The 2nd flight departing at 1100 will carry the winning team.  Smile

That would be awesome!

They should have flown to MSY much sooner. They'll need to get a lot of practice in to beat the Warriors.  duck

The Aloha charters appear to be mostly in and out at night, so unless one runs behind schedule big time, it'll be tougher to get decent shots. We'll see what happens.

HALFA, as nice as the weather was when I took the above shots...around 1130 local...it's basically gone to pot in the last hour.....a line of thunderstorms is passing through complete with severe t-storm warnings attached to them.

The five o'clock news is on in another hour, so I'm sure that they'll have some blurry-eye video of the arrival to show...as well as some of the players getting off the plane  wink

The HA pics from MSY look awesome.

Just a question. I heard mentioned above that AQ is flying a charter for the game. Do the 73Gs fly direct HNL-MSY, or do they stopover for fuel somewhere?

Any chance you got any pics of the Delta charter bringing the Dawgs into town? The Hawaiian shots are beautiful! I hope you are able get some other great shots of the various charters coming into town.

DeltaL1011Man, LOVE those clips! I missed the Auburn game because my cousin picked that day to get married. Oh well, the videos helped bring back many wonderful memories of Sanford Stadium for me. Lets hope that Moreno and Brown run wild like that on New Years Day!
