Landing Fees in Hong Kong's CLK IAP has been approved by Hong Kong's CAA, which will effective Mar 25. The revisied landing fees includes the following. If eith CX or foreign airlines launch new non-stop flights, the landing fee for the first year of the new routes will cut into half (50% discount), and 25% discount for the 2nd year.

The purpose is that HKG wants to attract more airlines to operate more new routes to/from HKG.

Any thoughts?

Its great news for HKG, they talked about this a few months ago but its been approved so its very good.

I just heard from someone is Singapore how the number of freight flights has dropped very much over the past year. Hong Kong they just keep going up and up !!
They are already making 13 more freight bays to handle the traffic. That makes a total of 26 !!

Hopefully this will encourage SAS to return to Hong Kong, as one of the main reasons they pulled out back in 98 was the high landing fees.
I think Lauda Air pulled out for the same reason too.
