Ok, here's another survey for all you guys: Do you think the 767-400ER fits into AA's fleet plans?

It will happen for AA's current 767-200s are getting up there in their age close to 20 years old, time for a replacement. I would like to see an AA 767-400ER with new RR Trents.

Yes, absolutely. I think you can expect an order in the next 1-3 years. No doubt about it. the -200's are becoming quite old and with the expansion they are planning, you really don't have a choice! While yes, there are a couple of -300's on the way, they wont be replacing the old -200's.

Well, given that the USA transcon flights (SFO-JFK and LAX-JFK) usually are full, plus the facts that AA does need a true replacement for the DC-10 and the increasing age of their 762 fleet, I think AA may order 35-45 764ER's probably in about 12-18 months.

I believe that the 764ER's will allow AA to resume ORD-HNL and DFW-HNL flights.

Are we all forgetting that the 762 with the new cockpit and cabin could be an option? AA is a huge 762 operator, and if the size is still right, then I see no reason not. Anyway, AAs 762s have around 8-10 years until they even start to be replaced.

Huh?! AA is still flying DFW-HNL and ORD-HNL and has not plans to quit! Are you thinking of DL and UA? AA's flights are all on 2 class 767-300s. AA will most likely not order the 767-400 and elect to purchase more 777 for international markets and therefore start using the 767-300 a little more doemstically or by adding additional international routes. 35-45 767-400s is way too much and is not needed at all.

TEDSKI-yes, the 777 is replacing the DC10's.
CannedSpam- AA still does operate those routes, except right now with a 763.
I think you should expect an order from AA for them. I think the 777's more or less should really replace the MD-11s and have 764's replace the DC-10 as they have around the same capacity and range. I think it is very possible to expect a good number of 764's in their fleet.

Yeah, I know AA still flies the DFW-HNL and ORD-HNL routes. I responding to Ray's statement that the 767-400 would allow AA to resume these flights which was a little off base. However, I can guarantee that AA will not be buying the 767-400.....there is no need for them.

Price may be a big factor and I have heard some of the load factors for their 767-200 flights and they are full. Plus, with the apparent problems many airlines are experiencing with the 777, particularly the climate control system, AA may opt for the cheaper 767-400ER.

Prices from Boeing's website:
767-400ER $120.0 - 132.5
777-200 $142.5 - 160.5
777-200ER $150.0 - 170.5
777-300 $167.5 - 192.5

That's a rather big difference, and with the loard factors being as they are, I would'nt expect to see -200s replace -200's. There's no seating increase.
