A bit in articles in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Pacific Business News caught my attention:

http://starbulletin.com/2007/12/28/business/story01.html

Quote:
Mesa, which said earlier this month that it expects a fiscal-year loss, also said the decision to sell Air Midwest as of Sept. 30 requires that the unit be counted as a discontinued operation.

http://pacific.bizjournals.com/pacific/stories/2007/12/24/daily22.html

Quote:
Chief executive Jonathan Ornstein said in a news release that the discontinued Air Midwest operation has impacted the company's ability to finalize financial statements.

I can't recall hearing anything about this before. Is Mesa trying to sell Air Midwest?

It would seem so. I haven't heard anything about it either. Anyone else?

Air Midwest has been "for sale" for well over a year now, it was just not talked about that much but J.O. has been talking about trying to sell it off little by little. The only thing that is even keeping the ZV fleet of 11 aircraft flying is the few EAS routes they still have left. I also think if you read it is comes across as if on Sept. 30 Mesa decided that it was officially going to sell ZV insted of going about it like it has done in the past where it sold a few 1900's here and there to various other airlines.

It's leased more aircraft than sold, actually. Many of the aircraft in the GQ and 3M fleets are leased from ZV/YV. (And, obviously, they might be getting many of those GQ birds back in a hurry.)

I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

3M will get the GQ aircraft as 3M is short on aircraft. That is the reason that ZV not 3M is still flying to DUJ, FKL, LWB, PIT and AHN. ZV wants nothing more then to drop those routes ASAP but they keep getting extended until 3M can get their stuff in order. When ZV gets the leased aircraft that they sent to GQ back they will either go over to 3M in a hurry or they will be parked until someone needs them. ZV has no plans to put anymore aircraft in the air. Their plan is to actually continue to reduce the flying as quick as possible.
