Hello I did a quick search on this and did not find anything, sorry if I missed it? Question about WN aircraft N471WN that overran the runway in KMDW in 2005. My question is this was it written off or did they repair it, how long did the repair take? Are there any pictures of it in the repair process around?

That aircraft is back in service. It's been renumbered. I think it's N286. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

Why was it renumbered?

In the same way that after a crsh, flight numbers, registrations and so forth are taken out of use by the airline. Can't quite remember why, to protect the airline from Media Bandwagon, respect for the dead, away from bad publicity...
