Is the daily double new or did they increase the aircraft size?

The second flight (AF444/447) was created this winter. Next winter one of the frequencies of this flight will be flown with the A343 instead of the A332.

I believe (and hope) GIG will be the first South America station to receive AF A380.
But if they decide to use 77W's, we will see a 3rd configuration between the current premium 77W and the COI 77W.

Seriously? Before GRU?
Yes, but i'm talking about AF only.
For your info, effective Feb 03, 2008, Air France will downgrade GRU-CDG from 7 B77W + 4 A343 + 3 A332 to 7 B772 + 4 A343 + 3 A332, in the middle of the Brazilian High Season.
Eff. March 30 the daylight will run only 7 A332.

I wouldn't count on the A380 at GIG. GIG is a two class station, and while there was talk that it would be upgraded to a 3-class station, that hasn't happened. Look for GIG to receive the new 2-class B77Ws, which are slated to replace the 13 remaining B744s, pretty soon after they start arriving.
As for the daylight operations, there will be a shift of A343 capacity from GRU to GIG, because the latter is for now enjoying higher Y demand, and the average AF Y yields are also higher in GIG than in GRU at this time.

Sorry to disapoint you my friend Felipe ... ! but I really doubt you will see the AF A380 in GIG. By the way, you won't see it in GRU either and probably nowhere else in South America.

As HB-IWC mentionned, all the 13 remaining B744 will be soon replaced by brand new 2 Class config. B77W ordered last May.
AF is negociating with Boeing to speed up the delivery of those new B77W.
The replacement will be done on the basis of 1 B744 out for 1 B77W in.
BKK, GIG and MIA should be the first stations to receive the new B77W iso the B744.
The A343 replacing the A332 is very logical as the A343 is offering more capacity in Y and less in J, but the A332 is perfect for "testing" a new frequency or an opening line.

Good to hear. I am already delighted that there is a second flight a day which offers more chance for me getting on board as AF and CDG is my preferred choice to GIG.

No problem my friend Pierre. At least i can dream But it's just based on the fact that since AF resumed the non-stop overnight flight they upgraded it sometimes. They stop while adding the 2nd flight to GRU but now seems that they are doing the same, and because of the lack of flights from GIG to London, Rome, Milan, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam as well as some other destinations, AF seems to be doing very well as i expect.

I keep thinking a F at least on some frequencies of the overnight flight would work fine. I'm on Sofitel Rio with dozens of Europeans paying US$ 700 per night, such kind of tourist that like (and could afford) a F product. It's the same on Carnival and several events in Rio. No doubt there is a market, at least for Friday, Saturday and Sundays frequencies.

This is something i always have on my mind.
Do you have any info why AF decided to downgrade GRU on the middle of this IATA winter ? Does the new daylight to GIG as well as the big additional offer to GRU (IB, LH, TP and others) hurts AF ?

And also with RG back daily to GRU-CDG, must have affected AF numbers in GRU, specially in Y.

Lipe, do you know what kind of B772 it's going to be ? Old or les Nouveaux Espaces du voyage ?

Thank you. Perhaps you could point that out to the people taking care of their web site...

Will these planes be delivered in the 3-4-3 Y setup "Lignes Internationales" because they are replacing the 747's?

All the futur new delivered B77W, whether they are in 2 or 3 classes, will be fitted with the 3x4x3 config in Y. The "oldest" will be retrofitted during this year 2008.
