There was a Monarch A330 at Terminal 3 a few weeks ago. Must have been doing a sub charter for someone I guess, as per the above.

Was operating BD8768 Jeddah-LHR and then back to Jeddah as BD9221. Maybe a hadj return flight?

The aircraft was G-MONS.

Cheers

Oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!!! BD using a 9 abreast A300 now as a substitute in one of the tightest configurations of any A300. Well done once again BD!

Not unlike many of the Hajj flights on other operators, don't forget. I'm sure this would have been a rather lucrative charter for BD - hence the decision to go with it without pulling aircraft from their existing schedule. Maybe they are a little more shrewd than most people give them credit for sometimes....

Shrewd but I doubt their poor passengers wouldnt agree, subjected to cancellations at short notice, aircraft substiutes, route and frequency axings, service alterations etc.

I thought we were talking about a Hajj flight. To be honest this was probably a Hajj charter flight arranged by a specialist Hajj agency and I doubt if many Hajjis chose it based on the carrier. I can't imagine it did bmi too much damage in all honesty.

Going off the flight number quoted, it was a specific charter. BD will get a bit of money, ZB gets a bit of money, the passengers get where they are going and I doubt if BD canned any services schedule to operate today so that they cpuld slot it in as I imagine that LHR is not operating to capacity, so all their "ordinary" passengers get where they are going (but not too sure if those going to LBA will have done today, given the weather conditions there!)
