No matter when it would happen, what do you think will be the next international airline and or international destination served by a carrier that is already there?

My Guesses:
New Airline- Iberia to MAD
New Destination- FCO on AA

Well Im not sure about new international airlines at DFW. I dont think DFW will have a new international airline for a while. QF wants to serve DFW, but as of yet they have been all talk and no walk. Maybe they will come in at some point.

Now as for new destinations, realistically these are the new destinations I can see at DFW within 5 years:

MAD - AA
PVG (pending Govt. Approval and authority) -- AA
PEK (pending Govt. Approval and authority) -- AA

Possibly:

BRU (if 9W and SN and AA continue a strong Codesharing relationship) --AA
ICN (if KE leaves) --AA
SYD (if QF committs, but I have my doubts) -- QF

Again I dont know for certain, but I think the 3 at the top have the best possibility. I think DFW will see some growth coming up in the next several years. DFW is now the 4th largest metro area in the US (after Chicago) and its is the 2nd fastest growing in the US (after Atlanta, but its so close it might as well be #1 too).

DFW has a bright future. I look forward to seeing where this thread leads. After LAX, I have more love for DFW than any other airport in the world.  Smile

Huuuhhhhh? I thought IAH was your fav after LAX  wink   confused

Perhaps DFW could pick up 6A and CI, as they are dropping H-Town in a couple of weeks, which is on the heels of KX's departure.

If, KE pulls a Texas two step, CX would fill the void nicely at DFW. But I doubt that KE will leave DFW anytime soon.

Aviasca can't make IAH, MIA or ORD work, so I doubt DFW would do much better.

I think KE could pull of both IAH and DFW. Everyone thought KE would would be out of DFW when DL left, but theyre still there. They must do ok there. But KE should go to IAH for sure. They would be a great there.

CX wont go to DFW. PVG and PEK on AA (whenever they happen) will be the next DFW-Asia.

Dallas-Madrid is a question of when, not if. However, the chances it will be on Iberia metal are pretty close to zero.

AA will focus Italy expansion, if there is any, on Miami and Chicago. Dallas-Rome would likely work during the summer only, and AA is backing away from seasonal routes.

An AA 767 would fit the route perfectly. I think MAD will the be the next overseas route flown from DFW on AA.

I cant imagine anyone flying DFW-Italy at all.

Speaking of DFW and AA. Ive always wondered about DFW-SCL. Does AA make enough on it to keep it running, or will it go to a cargo only flight?

And while were at it, is it plausible that AA can keep EZE from 4 gateways? Do they can take traffic from one another? Ive noticed that ORD-EZE is down to 4x weekly in our summer. I would imagine if one tanks it would be that one.

Mark, you might have the best insight to those.  Smile

QF has been rumored to be interested in -DFW service but supposedly they won't seriously consider it until 2010 when the 787s come online.

I would hope and expect DFW to pick up a new international carrier before 2010. IB sounds logical.

I guess I would think this would be a plausible route for the future. Is aircraft the issue with CX or are they consolidating US operations out of LAX / SFO like everyone else does in Asia?

As much as I would love to see CX at DFW, they will probably choose ORD first. Just like I think QF would rather have DFW over ORD.
