Hi everyone,

Here is a list of the QF aircraft that feature the new livery.

Qantas
VH-OGD (B763ER)
VH-EBG (A332)

QantasLink
VH-QOH (Q400)
VH-NXO (B717)

Does anyone know the paint schedule for 2008? And specifically when will we see the first B744 and B738 in the new scheme?

Cheers,

QF744.

EMBQA, for many people this change is very significant. And I’d call the new Kangaroo logo more than a “little” change.

On a small tangent, apparently VH-OJK/ City of Newcastle will be the first 744 to be fitted with the new QF premium economy product.

The new A332 VH-EBG has "QANTAS" titles which are way too big in proportion to the fuselage I reckon. They should've made it like the 763ER VH-OGD.

Types flown: B738, B772ER, B773, B77W, B744, A310, A320, A321, A332, A333, A343, A388

I fly QF a few times per week and have for many years... gotta say while I like the new livery it is a really small change from the old and would bet 99% of the people looking at 2 QF birds in different schemes would even notice. At a distance, only an airline enthusiast would even notice. Yes the "Spirit of Australia" is in black and up next to the Qantas name and the kankaroo is a bit pointier. New image will look better on the 787 than the previous livery (due to the poitniness), but I don't see any reason for them to rush out and paint any others for the sake of it, rather just receive new birds in the new paint.

Everyone who keeps saying it is a radical change must be really wild people at heart  box  !

Also, you won't see white engine covers on the RR-powered 747s or 767s. The Trents spray too much oil on the cowlings so they stay gray to mask it. Too bad though, as the white covers with red logo look good.

I rode in J on one of their "new" 767 interiors. They literally just covered the old seat in a different colour fabric. Although, it did feel much nicer and cleaner.

I remember seeing the acceptance speech when Qantas accepted their latest A330 and they made a big thing of the "new" livery...

I mean come on why is it a new livery?? It is just updated slightly with a bigger kangaroo and titles... A new livery is Delta's or CSA's.. not this!

Next Flights: LHR-OSL (319-BA), OSL-LHR (319-BA), LHR-CPH (320-BA), VXO-BMA (S20-TF), ARN-CPH (738-SK), CPH-LHR (320-BA)

With the A380 / B787 delay I believe QF is in no hurry to apply a revised scheme to the overworked fleet...

Okay.... REVISED scheme...  Wink You happy now...?

I believe VH-OEJ has already received the NEW Y/C interior... BUT as far as Premium Class is concerned you could be right about VH-OJK as the launch date is around the corner... Big grin

Just curious how many NEW livery's has Delta gone through in the past 5 years? 2-3-4...?
The most recent QF scheme which continues to fly today has been around for about 25 years... A very very long time if you ask me...

Delta barely lets the paint dry before they come up with a new livery... they are crazy about that. Ad agency that designs the concept make a fortune from them. Delta has had the wedge/widget, the blue cheat line with bright tail, the wavy gravy and now this new design. If they merge with another carrier... look for #5. That would be five in ten years!

In fact they still had widgets flying when wavy gravy was flying I believe. In the meantime they had been through the cheatline livery.

The following aircraft have the revised Qantas/QantasLink livery:

CONFIRMED

Q400

VH-QOH

Dash 8-300

VH-TQY

717-200

VH-NXN
VH-NXO
VH-NXQ

A330-200

VH-EBG
VH-EBH

767-300

VH-OGD

And as you can see from the information on my website (http://www.icns.com.au/qflyer), quite a large number of the 747-400s have the new fabric and some of the Jetconnect fleet also has the new look domestic fabric.

I love the new roo and I'm happy to see that tacky (now) gold stripe has been removed. Yes, I will admit the revised roo does look strange from select angles, but overall it's a very nice improvement.

Cheers

New typeface for "QANTAS", bigger 'roo, gold stripe dropped. I suppose you could call it "revised" rather than "new", but just be glad that it wasn't changed.

Probably the classiest and most timeless livery around, IMHO.

I agree 100%

Where is Qantas having the paint done...? I know at one time they flew them to the US to get painted, but I don't think that lasted long. I saw a 747SP and 747-400 get painted in AMA, but that was 1997-98

Have you scene the old 'Roo' on the A380 compared to the revised 'Roo'...?

I believe the B767 fleet have the paint work carried out at XRH Richmond Airbase...

Anyone know why QF aren't making a bigger effort in re-painting a/c in the new livery? So many other carriers around the world (such as Delta and NWA) get it done much quicker!

Also, where is our QF V-Jet retro scheme on a 738, 330 or 787?

WHy would they bother repainting planes that don't need new paint? When a plane needs a pain job they'll paint in new colours + will take deliveries in new colours. DL and NW make dramatic changes, and DL loves to keep the paint people in business. Would be a watse for QF to take the fleet out of service for a paint job. Most all of their aircraft have good paint. DL's always seems to be peeling; may just be all the layers  Wink
