Today BA announces the launch of service from London Heathrow to Hyderabad, India. Service begins at the start of the 2008 Winter schedule, on October 27th 2008.

Operating 5 times per week Boeing 777-200ER service, Hyderabad becomes BA's 6th destination in India, joining Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata. BA will now offer 48 flights per week between London and India.

Quote:
Robert Boyle, BA Commercial Director said:
Hyderabad has a fast growing economy based on IT, business process outsourcing and biotech industries and we believe that there will be a strong business demand for our flights which will be the only direct services between the city and the UK.

Good news. I've heard of many pax who travel from the UK to Hyderabad, via Frankfurt with LH. A direct service will be appreciated I'm sure.

Usually when BA launches a new route from LHR another is dropped or there are frequency reductions. Will this be the case or will they have enough slots?

Next flights: LGW-LBA-LGW, LHR-SIN-SYD, SYD-BKK-LHR, LGW-GRO, GRO-CIA, CIA-MAD, MAD-LGW

I was asking myself the same question. Will they be dropping another route/frequency elsewhere and if they dont, where will the aircraft come from?

When are the four 772ERs that BA ordered last year due to be delivered?

They are may be getting some ex-BMED slots? or GT/AZ ones?

Next flights : BRU-ZRH-CAI (LX)/ BRU-FCO-TLV (AZ)

That would make sense, but where would they get the extra aircraft from?

Good question? They might not operate the 6 additional 777s flights to DXB in Winter and use the aircraft and slots for HDD.

What happened to their 767s at QF? Are they ever gonna come back?

I read somewhere (only yesterday but can't find it now!) that QF had bought the 767s from BA. Can someone confirm this?

I do not know where the source is for that, but it is correct.

I'm excited. I fly to Hyderabad from Seattle two times a year. Both for business and family visits. I'd rather fly NW/KLM SEA-AMS-HYD but having SEA-LHR-SEA with BA as an option is always good. A few years ago I could only dream to have one-stop trip from SEA to HYD but now I have NWA/KLM, LH and now BA to choose from.

Not in the first round of expansion, but in a subsequent round - yes. The initial focus is on cities with larger demand (and better airport infrastructure and slot availability) like BOM/DEL/MAA etc.

More info released as they did with the highly sucessful BLR service the a/c on the HYD will operate in the following config

36J/24W/212Y

If, as BLR did there is a high demand for business class seating they would upgrade the route to

13F/48J/32W/122Y

Only time will tell but hopefully it will be another sucessfull route to india

I'm sure it will be - India is now their second most successful market, after North America.

Will 0715 be a good time to catch a longhaul flight out of HYD from the new airport? Does this mean a check in of 0515 - catch a taxi at 0400? Are there any nightclubs that stay open so long that you can drive to the airport straight from a party?

The timing is done to give good connection to/from BA US West Coast flights?
