Just wanted to ask what people thought of the current Germanwings website frontpage. I don't want to sound like a real prude but is the girl on their main webpage not wearing business hotpants(!). Just went there just to look and to be honest I keep looking back twice to make sure I'm not seeing things (well she looks great too I guess).
Don't forget that old marketing adage: sex sells! I don't think its an issue in the slightest - I guess a small proportion of possible customers might be put off by the suggestion, but surely the EUR 0,- price offer is the real hook here?
Forget A vs B - Give me E or BAe any day of the week!
Exactly. If an airline tried to do the "air strip" that Braniff had back in the 1960s, there probably would be an uproar. Some folks were up arms about Hooters Air (Not just the name, but also the fact that flights would have Hooters Girls in their trademark outfits assisting with the inflight service [When not performing those duties, they wore orange tracksuits. Oh how I enjoyed working on the concourses they flew out of during the time they served ATL.]).
You even had airlines that offered "gentlemen only" flights where the F/As would be dressed in skimpy attire.
A lot of the requirements that airlines had for F/As back then would be considered discriminatory these days.

Quoting Cpd (Reply 7): Oh that's nothing at all. Just a bit of harmless fun.
Yeah, it's all harmless fun, until someone of a more sensitive nature gets offeneded.
This ad wouldn't fly here in the US. I'm sure many people would be lined up to sue the airline and the ad company who produced the ad for sexual harassment. I used to have to sit through annual sexual harrassment seminars. No, I didn't learn how to sexually harass people any better, but it made me aware that most co-workers do not have a sense of humor.

Quoting Acabgd (Reply 12): Is this real vid with the plane flying so low over her? Shouldn't she be like blown away?
It's real. WN didn't have the money in '72 (one year after startup) to pay for special effects...the wake turbulence of a clean plane is much lower than a dirty one (clean meaning gear up and flaps up).
Also, from what I've heard, this was the only early WN commercial where the "flight attendant" wasn't an actual WN employee (the company's insurance considered putting an actual employee on the runway too much risk, never mind what an insurance company today would say about filming a high speed, low altitude pass down the runway!).
