Hi,

I know this has been discussed a little in the Finnish Aviation thread but I think it warrants its own thread... Although if this already has its own threat then please delete this one  Smile.. I couldn't find one though!

Anyway here is a press release from the SAS group website:

-------------------
Blue1 has secured slots for daily operation, Helsinki - London Heathrow starting on March 30 2008. The flights will be operated by MD-90 aircraft
-------------------

I think it is quite significant as it isn't very often we see a new operator into LHR and also that they managed to obtain slots!

Will also be great to see MD-90s back at LHR after SAS withdrew them...

Next Flights: LCY-DUB (E70), DUB-LHR (319), LHR-PHL (772), PHL-LAX (321), LAX-HNL (752), HNL-LAX (752), LAX-LHR (388)

They are dropping their STN service in favour of the LHR operation.

Any idea on which terminal will be used?

Yet another airline to enter LHR in March/April....  Smile

I'm not sure.. Everything at Heathrow is changing after T5 opens... i'm guessing Blue1 will stick with SAS and will be served by SGS... I heard Star Alliance is being relocated to Terminal 4 until Heathrow East is built?

Star should be 3 and Sky 4.

Star Alliance is moving to Terminal 1. Oneworld (except BA) will be in Terminal 3. SkyTeam and non-aligned will move to Terminal 4.

Anyone knows their timetable? Again something silly, like on the CDG route, departing very late in the evening and arriving in the middle of the night?

Thats a 2 hour turnaround for an MD-90, what a waste of time.

This is probably due to the slot situation. i.e, this was the best they could get

They really have a good timetable - if you think of the already existing AY/BA daily flights HEL-LHR (the four digit flights are BA)

AY5905 07:45-09:00
AY831 08:00- 09:10
AY839 14:05-15:10
AY833 16:00-17:10
AY5909 18:15-19:25

and LHR-HEL

AY836 07:30-12:25
AY832 10:20-15:15
AY5904 12:30-17:25
AY840 16:10-21:05
AY834 18:05-23:00
AY5908 18:20-23:15

Will the KF flight also be daily?

Regards,
LordHowe

Their timetable shows they retain STN as an evening service, KF553

Probably just an error as HEL-STN is not bookable after 30/3

HEL LHR 1205 1315 KF555 M90
LHR HEL 1515 2010 KF556 M90

This is only valid Monday and Friday.

Seems like Blue1 had to be rather flexible with their time to be able to get a daily LHR slot as seen from the schedule. The departure/arrival times varies from day to day. Their time on the ground also will vary between 2hr and 3h10m
