Hello I work in Charlotte North Carolina(KCLT) and today between 9:50 and 11:00 I saw a Frontier jet takeoff. When did they start flying to CLT or why was it in Charlotte.

Thanks
Mike

They don't... must have been a charter or diversion of some sort...

When I tried to check CLT on their website, it automatically takes you to AirTran.com

I have no association with Spirit Airlines

It came from STL last night and it appears to be on its way to PDX today.

Most certainly not scheduled service.

I was wondering the same thing. I seen it going PDX-CLT a couple days ago, then went from CLT-IND-DEN.

Anything to do with the NBA maybe? (Judging by the cities.)

I'm not into basketball but just a guess.

This might turn out to be kind of interesting.....the Nuggets last played on Friday night in Denver. When teams charter away from home for a game, they usually do so the day before the game. Now, according to Mikey711MN, the aircraft in question flew in last night from St. Louis, which starts to beg the question.....did they head out from Denver and have enroute issues which forced them to land in St. Louis?  scratchchin  .....Inquiring minds want to know...

Sorry. No NBA activity here. It was for a company called Freigthliner Corp. They flew PDX - CLT on the 11th as FFT 8492 and returned today (1/14) as FFT 8493.

Thanks for providing the answer, Tripleboom.....I neglected to say above that the Nuggets are playing in Charlotte tonight, hence my thoughts.

They used to do a lot of NASCAR charters too that originated from CLT.

I'm surprised they didn't use JQF... that runway is plenty long for a 32x, and 727s use it fairly routinely.

Interesting. Freightliner is building a new operations center in the area and is rumored to be moving their HQ here too. Maybe this flight was connected with those activities.

They are bringing employees who could be subject to the move to the Charlotte area for a long weekend to check out the city and surrounding area.
