Hi,

in the following two links you can find a report from the German TV Channel Kabel 1 about the Flying Chef onboard OS and all the necessary preparation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6eZAu6KIJc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYxo79eRsvU

I think this Sky-Chef product is one of the reasons why Biz people choose to fly with OS despite the fact that the Seat-equipment in OS B767 is not up to BA etc. standards.

Again for all the Detail-nerds: Flight was OS 087 VIE-JFK Equipment was the B767-300ER OE-LAE Malaysia.

And for the Terror-conspiracy theorists out there: Yes, a non-Airline Employee (the cook works for Attila Dogudans Do&Co, not for OS) opens the cockpit door inflight on an US-bound flight without being protected, so a Terrorist could possibly enter the cockpit etc.....but as the "people in the know" know that the Sky-Marshall onboard is courtesy of the Austrian "Cobra" special force...until today the only special force worldwide who ended a plane hijacking still inflight.

The Austrian "Cobra"-Special force is highly regarded worldwide, even in the USA. In global competitions, which are held regularly, they win most of the time.

Quite a character and the typical Austrian "Schmaeh".

Yes, whenever there is an opportunity I use OS C on long distance and one of the reasons is the catering. They are simply a tick better than others and Do&Co does a fine job.

Comparing it with BA - OK, you have your own cubicle on BA but the seats on OS are quite alright and the food is better by lenghts. Even better than what BA offers in F. Plus, OS serves good wines and a "Kracher" as digestif (they don't always have it) tops it up.

What about down the back? I had heard OS had re-introduced catering on European flights, for example.

Yes Orion737, that is correct, OS is getting back to the old quality they used to have in the past, but they are still not in very good financial shape.

Yes, their Y catering on European flights is the best around, by far.

yes, but they are hiding that very successfully. You always get what you pay for and the biz menues on BA are far from
what is served on OS

I was recently flying from SKP via VIE to FRA and SKP/VIE was a Lauda 73G, the catering (in C) on that flight was better than on the OS 321.

Hi Sandro,

Does your employer LX know that you praise the opponent within the Star Alliance ?  Wink

Maybe the OS flight was catered by Airest... which is also owned by Do & Co.

To be honest I think that OS will be owned by LH within a few years anyway...so OS and LX will be together "unter den Flügeln des Kranich".

BD have onboard chefs in long haul biz class too. Very nice food and if you don't fancy anything on the menu they will do their best to russle up something else for you. So looks like LH will have lots of inflight chefs on their payroll soon  Wink

No chef on BD short haul though, seeing as they have abandoned business class on most short haul flights.

I flew in Amadeus Class (NG/OS has the Kitchen instead of the First so it is basically a C/F-Class mix) back in 2002 when the flights were still under NG-Flight Numbers to KUL and back. The meal service lasted for almost 4 hours.

In between I flew KUL-SYD and back in F Class, the MH FA's and the seat were better than at NG/OS....but the food was much, much better onboard Lauda Air/Austrian Airlines.

Nope, they are employees of Do&Co.
