In the past few months AM has added this to their schedule and then pulled it at least twice.

NW applied for this route authority several months ago.

Daily DTW-MTY will start on May 2, 2008.

AM applied for authority after NW, probably with no real intention of operating this flight. Over the past few years, they have applied for several routes which they have never starting, including: DTW-MEX, DTW-MTY, MSP-MEX, PHL-MEX, SEA-MEX. Until you see the AM actually, physically operate the route, don't believe it.

On the other hand, good to see NW launch a new international route from DTW, and also use the E-175 for a net-new route. Hopefully this attempt at MTY works better than the very short-lived MEM-MTY.

Most of the people on this forum agreed that AM was not going to operate the flight. I hope this works for NW.

Heres another article.

It would be cool to see AM aircraft in DTW, but im glad it looks like NW is going to wind up with this route. Interesting choice of E175s. The aircraft, while considered regional, is perfect for longer range routes with less demand than A319s, 320s, or 757s can handle. I'll be sure to hop on this flight one day!
