If you want to get some great yanking and banking photos, now is the time.

Approaching 28L/R and circling to land on 01L/R, departing 01L/R....

quite a show for about an hour. They were flying at about 100 feet above my home on Murchison dive in millbrae. Question: it is quite a clear night and winds are about 10mph. Why the change in the arrivals? I was listening to ATC and it appears it has something due to the altimeter. Can someone explain.

Thanks much.

You're correct about the winds--they never seemed to actually get all that bad and I'm guessing they went to 01L/R arrivals in anticipation of the winds having been forecast to be stronger than they ended up being.

Don't know what a 30.10 altimeter has to do with anything. Should one ever get up to 31.00 there some restrictions to visibility minimums, but 30.10 is a long way away from that...

You'd think they'd be arriving 10L/R and departing 01L/R with winds only from 100 @ 11 kts..

Looks like they just did... Departing 10L/R too...

I was in the Lucky store parking lot at about 2015 when I was lucky to see QF 73 come over at about 100 feet. Listening to ATC, there were a lot of low altitude alerts. That is true flying those pilots were doing tonight with all the vectoring. A Continental 737 was a little lost. It flew directly up El Camino Real and made a hard right at Mills Hospital trying to line up on 01/R. Needless to say, he missed the approach and was told to go around.

I just cant wait until the A380 starts flying into SFO, that will be a site to see that bird flying over millbrae. I'm kinda surprised that they have not done a test landing with the A380 on the 1's. I know the pilots know there stuff but I would think flying towards the 1's would make the pilots hairs stand up.
