What's the crime rate of YVR? Is it a safe airport?

So far I feel safe there and I heard of no incident.

YVR, really? Vancouver is a very safe city and YVR is no exception. I go in and out of there every couple of months and I cant even imagine there being any kind of problems.

I think the fact that it is in Canada should be a good indicator here.

You will be fine at YVR. Take the sensible precautions you would employ at any other large centre.

Have a good visit.

Very much agreed. I've been there many times in the last couple of years and have really enjoyed the airport facility. On a day when the landing pattern comes from the inland side rather than the straits side, it is really fun to just take some extra time and park the rental in the Richmond Costco parking lot and see the various carriers and planes (A330s, A340s, B-772/773 and 748s) with various flags all land there. Something the folks at the Port Authority of Seattle no doubt envy!

Compared to many major U.S. metropolitan areas, YVR's crime rate is probably fairly low, but among major Canadian cities it is among the highest. As mentioned, if you take the same precautions you would take in any large city you should not have any problems. You are best advised to stay away from the area known as the Downtown East Side on the eastern edge of the downtown area which is probably one of the most crime-ridden areas in Canada.

Being a major port, YVR has always had a lot of drug-related crime, and with a very large Asian population, there are problems with Asian gangs.

and 748s

Wow! You live in the future! So who will send 748s to YVR?

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

It is, paradoxically, one of the least-threatening areas to walk through. Residents however, do not enjoy many restful evenings.

I believe the OP was referring merely to the airport itself. At least, that's how I interpreted it.

Air North does. The Hawker Siddeley version, that is.

Except for the police officer with a Taser in his hands. I don't know why that incident happened but just don't say anything that will make that police officer upset and it will be all fine.
