I was at LHR yesterday and they looked as if they were getting ready to move the aircraft very soon. I took off on 27L with about a quarter of the runway closed

It is sad when an incident happens, but business must go on. I'm just glad no one was killed and the aircraft was more intact than it could have been. This makes it a lot easier for the investigators to figure out what was going on. Kudos for the cabin crew and the pilots for the safest landing possible and to evacuate the pax. Accidents do happen, but work needs to press on.

Cheers,
I know there is frantic activity all around the striken aircraft at all the time. Is there much to be done before first aircraft can land again? Is there much damage to ILS system and to the apron?

Quoting Acelanzarote (Reply 7): If runway 27L is reopened, where's the 777 been moved to? Anymore on what will happen to it?
As far as I could see it is moved just a few hundred meters from the crash site and is still under investigation. But here are some more educated members who know what is happening with it.
