I think it is May 2008. I was supposed to open late 2007 but there have been delays
The Terminal from the outside looks complete, I passed by there today. Also all the raods and networks look complete. But the Concourse still are under construction!

That would be an unexpecetd bonus to our trip!
We're flying at the end (26/5) of may so fingers crossed, Heathrow - Dubai - Seoul, think we're on the flight with the new flat's in business and ice so thats also a bonus!
Just had some friends come back from dubai, they flew our on our flight, arrived in dubai bout 11pm I think and said it was bedlam!!!
Fingers Crossed!!
Any advice on (if we do end up in the old terminal!) on surviving the transit!

They are right - this is one of the busier times to arrive in DXB. Not so bad if you're in transit but the immigration lines if you're entering DXB can take a very long time.
How long is your connection? The EK lounge isn't bad, decent selection of food & drinks.

You'll get boarding cards in LHR for the LHR-DXB and DXB-ICN legs, and your bags will be checked all the way through. When you arrive - which could be at a gate or a remote stand - EK often leaves the gates for foreign airlines that pay for the privilege you follow signs for transit passengers. This takes you through a security check and then back into the departures area. There's a good duty free which is a lot cheaper than the UK on the lower level plus F / J lounges for EK and other airlines upstairs. You will have time to look around the shops for a while, get a drink or something to eat in the lounge, get a shower if there isn't too long a wait and then head down to your gate. This all assumes you're arriving into the current terminal, obviously could be all changed by then

Go to the irish pub near gate 25/26, good beer and food
but if youre only transiting DXB its not bad, just long lines at immigration if you are getting off there

We ( 2 adults and 3 kids) returned last week from a trip to the uk. (Auckland-Dubai-Gatwick). This is the second time in 2 years we have transited in Dubai, and i have to say it was one of the worst experience's we have had in any transit. Busy , hot and smokey. Is Dubai the only airport to have a smoking zone right in the middle of the terminal? another thing ,if you are long haul they don't give you the gate details on the boarding card. The information boards are inadequate, and didn't give details till very late on. infact when out gate came up , by the time we got to the gate ,it was the final call.
Love Emirates- HATE Dubai. Roll on new terminal.

Quoting Chrisjdurber (Reply 11): Best keep a distance from the smoking area! I quit in november and am still struggling!
good luck with that..... with the duty free cigarettes prices at DXB, I'd smoke a carton at once. ever wondering why EK404/405 being such a popular flight? great for smokers on the way to europe with smoke breaks in SIN and DXB.
Emirates shuttle buses btw remote parking stands and the terminals are big draw backs tho, I walk faster than them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
