In searching through some trip reports, it looks like TAP's Top Executive product may not have been upgraded for their A330s. Does anyone know if this is true?

I am traveling from EWR next weekend to Lisbon (via Oporto), and it looks like I have the (upgraded) 310 on the way over and the 330 on the way back.

Generally, I go with CO, but it looks like they do not have their LIS service in the winter.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Regards,

Indio

They sure do have it but it's 6 times per week. The flight does not operate on Thursdays. CO's LIS service is year 'round. You must be thinking of US. Their service from PHL to LIS operates only in the Summer.

Thanks for the correction - I am indeed traveling on Thursday, which I now realize is the reason the flight was not comming up!

Seems kind of strange to not have the flight on Thurs . . .

Guess the 330's who where bought 2nd hand haven't been fitted with TAP's top executive class.
They probably still have the old business class seats they had in their previous airlines.

I guess its too much for a Star Alliance carrier to have a consistent product (how long have the 330s been in the fleet?)

How long have United's 767's been in the fleet? How long have CO's 767's been in their fleet? How long have AA's A300's been in their fleet? I guess it's too much for a Star Alliance/Sky Team/OneWorld carrier to have a consistent product  Smile Bottom line is, EWR in January is not exactly their top selling destination so it makes sense for TP, and any other airline, to deploy their premium product on their premium routes.

Point taken, but if you are going to offer a transatlantic business class product and have a significant portion of your web site focused on it, I think you should have the product across the fleet or at least let people clearly understand what they will receive for their money (for example, VS cautions that certain routes do not have the flat upper class bed).

I think that TAP has had the 330s for a couple of years, which should have given them enough time to upgrade to Top Executive.

Finally, I would not cite any US carrier as being state of the art or in anyway aspirational to the rest of the world's airlines.

If they are the former OS ones...no they do not have them for a couple of years. If they still have the OS-Biz Class...it is not that bad at all.

IIRC they only started to roll out the new product some time in 2007. It doesn't matter how long they've had the aircraft in the fleet. These things take time and are often done during scheduled maintenance. It doesn't make good economic sense to pull aircraft out of rotation just to upgrade the seats. Again, this is the case for every airline, not just TP.
By the way, their web site clearly only makes reference to the old Top Executive product on the A310's and A340's. There is nothing that I can find in their web site about their new product. Where did you see the new product advertised. As far as i can tell, they're only advertising the old product which basically means that if you get the new product, it's a bonus.
