dear friends,

I've been proposed for nearly the same price a return
ticket from Brussels to Tel Aviv with both SAS and
Austrian Airlines. I've never flown them so I would like
to know about your own experiences, appreciations and
tips over these two companies, which one would you
prefer to fly with. I only know that the flight with SAS
will be ensured by MD80's on both BRU-CPH CPH-TLV
routes...probably MD80 on BRU-VIE and A330 on VIE-TLV. Thanks in advance,

take care,

Hey TCA!
I flew both SAS (all MDs and DC-9) and OS.
While SK flies to TLV with an old (+-) MD83, OS flies to TLV with a modern A32X (20, 21)
I think i would rather go by OS than SK because my flight with OS last year was really enjoyable....

ANYWAY.... how come you wo'nt fly directly from BRU to TLV with LY or SN, after all, they codeshare, they have a nonstop service and im sure you can find a hot price for your journey..... can you not???

Hopefully i helped you,
Michael @ Israel  Smile

Shalom Michael,

Toda for your answer...well in fact I could fly LY or SN
but they skyrocket prices to the holy land, I should
expect to pay something like 100 USD more flying
directly to Tel Aviv...I would love to experience B767
in LY's livery but it seems they changed their aircraft
on Brussels route: B737-800 now according to their
online time-table...

Okay...one vote for Austrian Airlines now...  Smile

Are you sure about those prices???
seems like LY are very cheap now.....
Anyway, El Al flies now the 737's to every spot in EU since they want to save as much money as they can due to the....crisis,
The 737 is really great though.....
BTW i'll be flying next week to FRA, I'll have a 767 to FRA and 738 to TLV....!!!  Smile

TCA

i would opt for Austrian. I have doen many middle east flights with them and everyone was a true refreshing flight! especially the FA's are damn nice and live up to their slogan: friendly austrian.

Have a good trip
Amir

erev tov ELAL001
the prices...??..I'm quite sure, I've checked the Student
Travel Agency here and the cheapest prices were on
LH, SK, OS and Malev of Hungary...It's quite strange
because I thought also like you but maybe SN pushed
to maintain an average price. By the way..you're lucky
to enjoy the sun of Israel, I miss so much the weather
compared to freezing/rainy Europe....

One question, where are then the B767's ? parked in
hangars in Lod or dispatched to other destinations ?
I mean big-revenue routes like Germany or Holland....

see ya haaver,

The 767 flies to LHR, ORY/CDG, The Far East, Africa & to other important destinations in EU.
The point is that there is no need for theirs capacity at the moment but they are being used anyway even if they suffer from a low load because an airline cant operate flights without a/c's, right???!
Thing is that the 737's are flying a lot now, and when i say a lot i mean between 14-16 hours a day!!! (A LOT!!!)

BTW, the weather here is really graet, it was sunny all day today and kindly warm, by Saturday it will be cold and rainy.

Give me an Austrian A32X/A330 over an SAS MD-80 any day!

Try Austrian, you won't be disappointed!

Post a trip report...
