I just learned that two Japan Airlines jumbo jets almost had a mid-air collision over Japan. Flight 907, a Boeing 747-400, was flying from Tokyo to Naha. As it was cruising, the TCAS sounded and the jumbo jet carrying 427 people dove, leveled out, and dove again. 32 people were injured, 3 seriously, because, at the time, hot drinks were being served and the trollies flew up into the air, spilling the drinks.
The other aircraft, a DC-10 flying from Pusan to Narita, had to take no evasive action. No one on that aircraft was injured. The planes missed each other by only 60 meters.
