The lease was extended for another six month, think it will be returned in june? Beside of the twonew 738, they are also in the market for second-hand Aircraft.
Cant find the article now, but as fa as I remeber they will base 2 A/C in SAW, 5 in ADB and 10 in AYT this summer. Will look for that.

SunExpress is getting one frame in March fom Seattle. I don't work in Boeing any more, so i cannot access the delivery schedule as i was able to 3 months ago.
thought that too, but couldnt find, neither on www.airhaber.com, unfortunately they have no search function.
another great site to keep track of Turkish carriers fleet is www.ucakbilgi.com (despite the technical info about the aeroplanes )

TKfan,
Thanks for the KIX, ICN info.
Also, I am as usual excited and wanted to share it with you. Just got my tix for my usual spring trip to Turkey. I was able to get DL nonstop JFK-IST for $722 in May and already booked exit row seats both directions. Last year I paid $888 for the same ticket. Looking at the seat map on DL.com the plane is 95%empty both directions, midweek flights.
It has been a few years that I can't afford to fly TK anymore. DL beats TK by few hundred dollars every time.
How can TK get away with this?
-Is it because, Turks fly TK no matter what and willing to pay more? (I doubt it)
-Better TK product? IFE? Food and Beverage better, free? Better pitch? (I doubt it also)
Any ideas?

Generally TK does not need to price too aggressively to NY especially into the summer as loads are very strong. Winters they can be a little difficult on loads and do see some good specials as a result.
I am curious to see however how things will work out this summer as TK has rescheduled the JFK departure to 4pm, pretty much eliminating West Coast feed while also not having the AA code-share any longer either. I know their focus is for the flight is now more on local O&D traffic with ORD and eventual IAD flights being the driven by US connections.

I think they get a lot of connecting traffic from Turkey, Middle East and Central Asia, same with AA as LAXintl said, feed the flight with US travellers.
Delta or Skyteam travellers have the option to transfer from CDG, MXP, FCO.
I think this is the main reason, besides TK has certainly a better Product

So here is a question;
How is TK's online ticketing these days? Since I haven't flown them for a while, as far as I know you can't make seat selections, correct? It was some crazy system that after you purchase your ticket, you have to wait till you are 3 months from your departure to be able to make seat reservations, by phone only. Is that still the same? With the Star A we should expect that to change I hope.
How about Credit card payments? Do you still have to receive a fax, fill it out, and fax it back to TK?
Thanks.

The new TK logo?
I thought this might be just for the ESB based TK2, but it looks like they have changed the logo on their website, and logo pages; http://www.thy.com/ (See the old on the plane, and the new at the top)
Now as you mention it, I had to look again carefully, you are right. I recognized a change but didnt know what. There seems to be a grey/silver circle around the logo, guess i was fixed on that.
now i remember it was always a red circle and red bird (Crane)

The reason it made me take a closer look was an ad in the New York Times Travel section today. There is almost a half page ad for Turkish Tourism, and as usual Turkish Airlines logo and numbers at the bottom, the new logo.

The change is not only the silver circle, it's like the negative of the old logo: now the background is red, not white.
It looks strange on a red tail tail

Well, DL flight leaves at 4:30pm also, so West Coast folks either spend a night in NYC, or make their one stop someplace in Europe till ORD goes daily.

TK's website and their pricing sucks. I was shopping around for some IST-SEA flights one way. Expedia.com gives me daily options through both JFK and ORD but thy.com doesn't even bother with JFK connection. (This is for April where departure is still around 11 am).
In addition the price from expedia is 938 USD where TK gives me $1300..
I think part of the problem is turkish people don't book these travels through the website, but they either call the airline or the travel agent.

DL's 430pm departure still works for West Coasters - DL has arrivals into JFK from LAX,SFO,SEA at 334pm, 331pm and 335pm respectively which might be a little tight but are legal connections never the less.
Potential IAD flight should have a departure around 600pm dependent on what TK works out with UA and should be much better for West Coast folks.

Turkey this week kicked off a tourism campaign in the US, which includes TV commercials as well. Keep your eyes open particularly during the evening and late night news.
You should also see Turkey booths in many local travel shows including in the upcoming LA Times show Feb 9th and 10th in Long Beach, CA - which happens to be the largest annual show on the West Coast.

Does anyone know the details on TK announcement about launching LWO (Lviv, Ukraine). How many frequencies, what type of metal, how would those flights be connected?

No details yet, I assume it will start with two weekly as the previously launched new routes to Ukraine, and increased once the demand is there.
I d thought Harkov would see flights before.... might also come in the near future as there is lots of traffic between UKR and TR
