Norwegian Air Shuttle has just taken delivery of the first of many Boeing 737-800s.

LN-NOB (MSN 34954) was delivered to the airline a short time ago in Seattle. This aircraft is on lease from BBAM.

That was very quick; it only seems like a very short time since they were ordered!

Pity about the reg!

This one is leased, and not part of the big order that was announced last summer for 42 737-800s. The first of those 42 will be delivered next year. This one was sold from Spicejet to Babcock & Brown, and is the first of 11 that Norwegian will have on lease.

Absolutely right. There will be a used aircraft delivered soon enough, an ex- Air Europa -800. I think that one will be LN-NOC.

Why?

In British english, "nob" is common slang for the male appendage. Gosh that was a productive post!  Smile

I love that livery on the 738. Looks better than DL's new livery.

Congratulations to Norwegian and Boeing! I recently flew them for the first time and I was impressed by their service level. Of course tight for a person being 188CM, but I just did not touch the seat in front and was recommended seating beside the emergency exit on the way back. I did and that worked quite well. Will the B738 have the same narrow pitch as the B733?

Quoting Joost (Reply 7):

I think they thought of this at first, but they went with a lease for 11 new once instead. Norwegian wet leases a plane right now because there is hard to find used 733 these days. IIRC they are wet leasing an A320.

Sort of. In the beginning it will primarily serve the routes to the Canary Island as their -300s doesn't have the range and the route has been operated by a leased 320.

Yep! Flying as NAX7381. Expected arrival at OSL is Saturday 0900 (local time).

Almost. It is 8 new and 3 used. The first used one is LN-NOC (ex. Air Europa), and should arrive within a couple of weeks.

Yes, but due to the weather at OSL this weekend did it arrive OSL today, a few days later than scheduled.

NOC is still a "white-tail" though, not sure whether it will get any Real Norwegians on its tail
