AMS Airlines Take Dutch State To Court Over Tax

The Board of Airline Representatives in the Netherlands (BARIN), a group representing all airlines flying to AMS, has taken legal steps against the new Dutch aviation tax. They say this tax violates the Chicago treaty which states that no tax my be charged upon a departing flight, unless there is a specific service associated with it.

A lawsuit about a similar tax in Belgium resulted in that tax being declared illegal.

How come you have to pay 15 USD to leave Argentina then?

They can claim is a tax related to government officials checking passports or whatever. There is a "service" related to the tax. The NL case is different.
