With 8 additional 772LRs joining the DL fleet over the next 18 months or so, what additional routes or forthcoming routes will get 777 service? ATL-JNB?

it has yet to be said but if i had to guess ATL-HKG,ATL-DEL,ATL-BOM,JFK-DEL........I think they will wait on non stop ATL-JNB but i do see that in the future ATL-JNB along with ATL-CPT and JFK-JNB or CPT will become non-stop with 77Ls

Thanks...I think ATL-GRU is all 764s for the time being. Summer it goes Tue Sun on a 777.

If I were to guess, I'd say ATL-JNB nonstop has priority over all those other routes.
Quoting DeltaL1011man (Reply 6): with ATL-CPT and JFK-JNB or CPT will become non-stop with 77Ls
I don't think CPT needs to be served nonstop to both JFK and ATL. Just one service to JFK is fine. However, JFK-JNB might not be a bad idea if the route further proves the needed capacity and cargo. Still though, seems like a long shot.
Still, we haven't heard an announcement about JFK-NRT. Remember when that route 'leaked' some time last year by Hauenstein that it was to be announced as a new route? I'd much rather see the 772ER on JFK-NRT than ATL-GRU.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

well i said add JFK-NRT with the 77Ls but i got called stupid. I don't know when it will be added but soon i hope.

with ATL-DKR-JNB going to a 764 and adding JFK-DKR-CPT and DKR-NBO. I really think DL is going to wait(for now) on JNB nonstops
ATL-HKG would be 2 a/c
ATL-DEL and ATL-BOM might be able to go with 2 a/c
JFK-DEL and JFK-BOM might be able to go with 2 a/c
talk is DL will order 7 more 77Ls this spring (along with more 73Gs)
I have also seen something about DL leasing 773As(with RR Trent 892s) for routes like ATL/JFK-LHR/CDG and ATL-GIG/GRU
and again talk of DL ordering 77Ws
and i would guess ATL-PVG,ATL-PEK,ATL-NRT, LAX-PEK,LAX-PVG,LAX-NRT,LAX-SYD,LAX-MEL,LAX-SIN,LAX-ICN

I'm wondering if UA is going to beat DL with going to every continent. They could start a IAD-JNB or ACC or LOS flight. But they have no planes to spare and probably not going to get any new ones soon.

How do I know which flights the 777LR is? I checked Delta.com and they only say "Boeing 777", no -LR or -ER.

27 Mtparadis: Look at the seatmap. 1-2-1 in J is the 77L. 2-2-2 in J is the 77E.
28 OORamper: Doh! There's something stupid I said. Ok first US airline since Pan Am to fly to all continents.
29 OORamper: Yeah saw something on the DL extranet a while back to enter to win a trip on the first 77L flight from BFI to ATL.
30 MCOAviationFan: The delivery flight for the 777L will be on Feb 29 from SEA to ATL with a planeload of employees who were selected to the "Chairman's Club" for 2007,

32 Ikramerica: I might just have to try to catch this flight on LAX-ATL. Anyone know how long they plan on it running the route? Just a day, a week, or more? Obvious
33 COERJ145: I wanted to do this, but being in Boston, the earliest I could get to LAX would be 30 minutes before the flight is scheduled to leave LAX. I checked
34 DeltaL1011man: and i think DL will add LAX-MEL rather soon and then when they can get 7 weekly flights per city then i see SYD being added. well on March 8 flt.0110
35 WindowSeat: What other routes besides ATL-LAX is the 77L going to do in March before it gets shipped out on the BOM route? Anyone know? I'm going to have to try a
36 Halophila: Dang! I'm flying ATL-LAX that day, but on the later flight in the day... Missed it by that much!!

42 A380fo: hey hey hey, lets all be fair here.... we all know we will see the new service of LGB-ATL on this bad boy
43 Ikramerica: that's no fun... I can't imagine I'll be flying any of the routes that the 77Ls of the world fly, so if I want to say I've been on one, I have to try
44 Halophila: Honestly, I'd agree, except i'm flying in from Florida to make that connection in ATL, which would mean leaving from Orlando at 6 am, airport at 4am
45 SQ452: Hahahaha! Brilliant. You forgot to add ATL>RSW!!!!!!
46 DeltaL1011man: i would do it sleep on the plane the have lie-flats
47 Halophila: Good point. And I am silver medallion, so I may get an upgrade. I'll try changing it tomorrow!

53 SQ452: An SFO>BLR, or LAX/JFK/ATL>BLR flight would do great business... SFO is a better market for O&D but that's not DL turf at all...
54 Haggis79: not too sure if there's a gate that fits a 777 in SLC....?
