Great news for southern Jefferson State!! I would say that this is a good sign that QX is doing well here in the North State. I do have one small request...... An early morning northbound and late evening southbound flight between ACV/RDD and PDX. If the flight could continue north to SEA, that would be just peachy!! Really  Wink Think of all the new connection opportunities we would have.

This will also solve some operations problems when ACV is closed due to fog. RDD service can continue on with no problems and the ACV flight can be canceled while the aircraft is still in LAX. I can imagine the the problems that occur when the existing LAX-RDD-ACV flight terminates in RDD due to fog on the coast. Flight crews have to make a last minute reservation at a local Redding hotel and crews scheduled for the early morning ACV-RDD-LAX flight are 135 miles from their aircraft. The fog usually burns off by 10am and does not return until after dark so midday and late afternoon flights are usually fine.

"Horizon Air Increasing Seats from Eureka/Arcata and Redding to Los Angeles by 50%

The new schedule will have two nonstop roundtrip flights between Eureka/Arcata and Los Angeles, removing one stop in both directions. Redding will have, as it has now, a nonstop roundtrip flight to Los Angeles and a one-stop, same-plane roundtrip flight to Los Angeles that stops in Eureka/Arcata each way."

Hopefully DL will soon announce new service between ACV and SLC. Although this article is from the Redding Record-Searchlight, it thoroughly explains the steps that Humboldt County community members took to entice DL to start new service and what steps the Redding community needs to do attract DL into RDD as well. Small to medium sized communities in Oregon (MFR, RDM, EUG and SLE) have been successful with this approach although from what I have read in this forum, I am not sure how long SLE service will last.........

It's the PDX-ACV schedule I want back. We're down to just one poorly-timed one-stop (RDD) flight each day. Five or six years ago we had at least five flights each day (QX and OO), and most of them were non-stop. Come on Horizon, throw us a bone here.

A smaller version of the Cascadia or Ecotopia ideas.

The State of Jefferson idea has been around for the last 150 years. It attempts to create a new state out of Northern California and Southern Oregon. Basically they feel they have more in common with each other then they have with the rest of California and Oregon.

The idea reappears every now and then.

As a former resident of Jefferson State, LMT to be exact, it's good to see that a few continue to keep history alive.

A disgusting idea.

ACV & RDD service to SLC on DL/OO are some of the holes in the overall network that are still missing. When you look at the west and the overall SLC operation, it is amazing to see how much of it is OO when compared with mainline. http://delta.innosked.com/

As a former resident of Jefferson, (CEC) history shows that the southern counties of Oregon and California counties, Humboldt, Del Norte and Siskiyou were last planning to declare their own state 12/9/41, but we know what happen a couple of days before. (WWII note; Japan actually dropped a bomb on Brookings, Oregon)

Back to the topic, service to the east from ACV is much needed, and I believe would be popular with the people of Northern California just to avoid SFO.
