PARIS (Thomson Financial) - EADS aircraft manufacturing unit Airbus said it has won an order for nine A320 family aircraft from Niki Luftfahrt, the airline run by former formula one driver Niki Lauda.

The order will take the low cost airline's fleet up to 20 A320 family aircraft.

Confirms the rumour from a couple of weeks ago - makes them a serious player IMO. IMO this is a new order, not an undisclosed order.

This brings Airbuses Jan total to 168, not including anything held over from 2007 (Libyan, Afriqiyah, Vietnam et al) - fairly impressive, for a supposedly slow year!

Airbus lists a UFO, booked on the 5/12/2007 for 9 A320's. The number of frames being announced would suggest that its from NIKI.

Wings

Thanks Moo.
I'm counting 46 widebodies. Extremely good.
But what's interesting is how many of the orders that was never anounced in 2007.
I guess we can expect many more orders in February as well.
