I'm really hoping it does work, although I'm not sure if Shaheen are the airline that will make it work. Would be really nice to see this route successful though. Shaheen aren't selling tickets yet, although LBA has Islamabad listed on their website as a destination, served by Shaheen Air
I don't see why the route shouldn't work, the LBA area has a large Pakistani population and if Shaheen can offer low enough fares and passable service then I don't see many complaining too much. That said, PIA is seen as the Holy Grail of airlines among the Pakistani community, so I'm not sure how well Shaheen will fare in competition with PK. The only thorn that could plague the route is MAN, I'm not sure if LBA is much more attractive. Even so, when I worked at Thomson last year, we had many customers who just would not travel from anywhere but LBA, so there may well be a market.
Shaheen needs to assosciate itself with some of the specialist Asian travel agents in the area, as these agents are more often that not the first port of call for any homebound families or Pakistani descent Brits going to see family out there.
Anyway, good luck to them. Would much rather it was PIA serving LBA but beggars can't be choosers

Plus it is a well established name in Pakistan, they have been around for 15 years (albeit with a motley ever changing fleet of Russian and early Boeing aircraft) so they are not a total newcomer to their home market, even if they are in the UK.
UKIA would have worked better if they had flights to Punjab or delhi due to the high concentration of indians in Nottingham (Hyson Green), Leicester, (Belgrave) and Derby (Normanton, Pear Tree, Littleover)
Next destinations, Suarabaya, beirut, paris, Accra
For me I would have preferred to have seen them use DSA instead of LBA! I'm sure I remember reading a press release on DSA's website that DSA was going to be the only airport in the north of England that Shaheen would be using, then all of a sudden they choose LBA! This may come back to haunt them given LBA's record with fog at certain times of the year!. We might see them in DSA as a diversion!
