I just read it on Internet (boursorama.com)
http://www.boursorama.com/infos/actu...l_actu_marches.phtml?&news=5100711 (sorry in French)

AZ officially anounces that they will give up MXP slots, reducing intercontinental links by half: 48 in 2008 to be compared with 181 in 2007.
What is the future of MXP ? Short term speaking, MXP and politics are afraid of Milan region beeing undercovered.

I know there is a lot of operational issues at MXP:
1) Weather: especially the fog due its location near the Alps
2) Design of the airport itself, the runways being too close to the terminals, therefore causing operation problems, and extension problems

Is the future so dark for MXP? Is the airport condamned to play a secondary role or to disapear like Mirabel in Montreal?
I guess there will be other airlines like Air One to fill the gap, but to what extent?
I don't see Northern Italy without a major hub as they are the economic heart of the country...

Quoting A380forana (Thread starter):

it looks to me a little bit more than a half.
