MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Regional airline company Midwest Air Group Inc. said Monday it appointed former Delta executive Joseph Kolshak chief operating officer.
Kolshak most recently was executive vice president of operations at Delta Air Lines Inc., where he worked for 20 years. Midwest did not say when he will become its chief operating officer.

David Reeve, who had dual roles as senior vice president of operations and president and chief executive of Skyway Airlines, a Midwest subsidiary, will continue as Skyway's president and CEO.

I find it interesting that Joseph Kolshak would want a job with a small regional airline. It makes me wonder what TPG has planned for YX.

Why is there going to be a Skyway president? Is this just to oversee the ground ops or will he also oversee the SkyWest flights?

Skyway will still exist as a Midwest subsidiary, it just won't be an airline. Much like Delta Ground Services, which I imagine has its own president as well within the Delta corporate structure.

I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

Sounds to me like a bit of organization. multi-role bosses rarely succeed and even more rarely stay. I think for David it means letting him concentrate on making Skyway's more productive and profitable, and thus more likely to survive. For Joseph I sense he saw either no chance of moving up at Delta, or he wanted to be a big fish in a little pond.
