I have just booked a flight on Air Canada from London to Buenos Aires. 5 out of the 6 legs will be on 767-300's.
Does anyone know how much of their 763's have been refurbished with the new interior with PTV's and what are the chances of getting one of these aricarft on the legs of YYZ-SCL, SCL-BUE, BUE-SCL, SCL-YYZ and YYZ-LHR because this is more than 30 hours of flying on this type of aircraft and it would obviously make a HUGE difference if I had PTV's for some of the time.

Thanks

Consult http://www.contrailsphotography.com , then fleet stats, Widebody AC fleet for updated details. It's a very good source. More than half the fleet has been or is in the process of being XMed. That's If the PTVs actually work. But that's for another topic (discussed recently).

If you go onto aircanada.com and go through the booking on your dates the flights with the new 763's with PTVs will be shown with a red star. Best of luck with them, an AC 763 that's not refitted is quite an experience!!!

Next Flights: EI DUB-LHR A320, BA LHR-SFO B744, UA SFO-LAS A320, BA LAS-LHR B744, EI LHR-DUB A320

Only 3 A430s left in the fleet and not scheduled to be XMed. The A333s should start being XMed during the spring as more 777s come into line and the 763 conversions slow down and come to completion.

It's a good indication but don't always rely on it. Unmarked flights are regularly operated by XM 763s.

awsome! let's just hope it stays that way and there will not be an aircraft change at last minute.

LOL yes!! I flew HNL-YVR last summer and the plane was in a desolate state!
Actually in a chit-chat with the cabin crew they said they were really embarrassed by some
of their 763's... it was oooold and previously with Asiana and then Kenya Airways.
Hand written signs in the lav's hahaha nice!
Although the flight was only 5hrs... man it was one of the most annoying flights ever.

Let's hope they will actually do it and not just ignore it, using the excuse that they will get rid of their 333's too
and replace them with 777's. (can that happen anytime soon?)

LOL i actually flew on a AC 333 YUL-LHR a month ago and when I got on the plane I saw those
fake covers on the area where the PTV's supposed to be.
I was ignorant enough to think that the PTV was hidden underneath it and started pulling on it!! hahaha
Then a F/A passed me by and asked "what are you doing?!" and when I explained she laughed and
ACTUALLY said: "No honey, this ain't Emirates!" hahahaha nice!

Well, with due respect, If they were getting rid of them soon, how does it make sense to start spending millions of dollars refurbishing planes that are no older than 9 years (first delieveries in 1999)? But they 330s are staying until at least 2012 from the last pieces I've read (I'm not even sure If they're actually slated for retirement or not anymore) and will be done, don't you worry.

The 767-300 XM aircraft are excellent! I was lucky enough to fly one last May, I was supposed to fly on a 773 between YYZ-LHR as I did on the outward journey and was some what disappointed when I saw a 767-300 parked up at the gate! But when I boarded and saw it was an XM, it was a great exerience!

The only thing that let it down and thought it showed its age was those old fashioned overhead bins, which look really boxy!

Time for a rant!  Wink

There seems to be "Will I be flying on an AC 767 XM Aircraft?" thread every few weeks on here and gets a little boring! In all honesty no one can answer this question unless you are flying within the nest 24-48hrs. AC is notorious for swapping aircraft, and my aircraft type for the 6 flights I had with them changed continuously!

They will most probably remain in service with Air Canada until all 767 are gone and the last batch of 787 is scheduled for delivery.

No kidding, an non-XMed AC 763 is so drab and ancient looking inside.
I was flying YEG-LHR last month, was supposed to be an XM 763 and was not. Arrgh!
