Interesting to see DTW as the second US city this year. Not one I would have guessed. Also new this year is South African pilot Glen Dell. It also appears most of the races are Saturday-Sunday instead of Friday-Saturday like last year. I would expect turnout to increase because of that. There is also a new race format where all 12 pilots compete on race day instead of only on qualifying day. This does mean that the competition will not follow the simple bracket system anymore.
Personally I am glad to see SAN back on the schedule. I will probably be going again. I would also like to see it in DTW, but that probably won't happen.

I definitely want to get up to Detroit for this, it sounds like fun and it's something I've always wanted to do. How much do tickets usually cost for this event? Hopefully they're not too expensive, but even then I might have to ante up and spend the money.

For Finals Day in San Diego last September it was $25 + $3 in service fees. The ticket for Qualifying and Finals Days was $45 + plus the applicable fees. Not bad at all, IMO.

That's not bad at all, thanks for the help. I hope to make the trip to Detroit for this, it seems really cool!

Anyone know if they use DET or Grosse Isle Municipal (KONZ) for their base of operations during the races?
Are the Red Bull a/c transported from race site to race site on cargo aircraft?
Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.
