According to "De Standaard", a belgian quality newspaper, British Airways started negotiations with the SAir Group to join OneWorld. Insiders had already made clear that OneWorld was the prefered partner for SR, as they already code-share with for example American, Finnair and Aer Lingus (this is the case for Sabena), and have FFP-deals with JAL, and as they had been looking for a partner alliance as the former policy of the Qualiflyer Group was abandoned.

Although I think (and hope) that this could happen, I know that oneworld never comments on prospective new partners until everything is signed and ready. I'm not saying that oneworld isn't talking to them, in fact I'm pretty sure that they are, but I wonder where they got their information from.
