AF BOS-CDG-MUC Questions

I'm considering flying AF BOS-CDG-MUC in June and have two questions:

Does the AF 744 that flies into and out of BOS have the new business class?

AF's schedule shows a one hour CDG connection between the inbound flight from BOS and the outbound flight to MUC. Is a one hour connection realistic at CDG or is it AF fantasy?

All AF aircrafts have been retrofitted with the new business class seats.

Regarding the connection, one hour is tight, especially as you need to clear immigration at your first port of entry into the Schengen zone. In any case, if you are flying AF 337 and miss your connection to AF 1422, you will be rebooked on AF 1522, one hour later. I would personally book the later flight.

Thank you. That's what I suspected.

I agree with Jouy31
you need minimum 1/2 hour for imigration already + the time to go to the gate to MUC.
1 hour is a bit tight and it is also tight for your bags to follow to MUC

I agree with my French colleagues but if you fly J class, you'll leave the plane first and, except if 2 other jumbos arrived just before you, it will take you only minutes to clear immigration. For all my last long-haul trips, it was very rapid (less than 5 min) to go through immigration. So one hour could be clearly feasible and don't forget that if your connection is too tight (e.g. if your inbound flight is delayed), an AF agent will wait for you at the gate to speed-up the transfer (whatever you fly J or Y).

I did an early morning JNB-CDG-MXP transfer a couple of years ago (J-class). Imigration was a horror show. I queue-hopped, sprinted through the terminal and was the last person to board the MXP flight. I vowed I'd never transfer through CDG again. And yet, here I am . . . .

a couple of years ago (J-class).

On average, things have improved a lot these past two years with the AF fast transfers and, last year, with the new infrastructure (S3) and the move away from 2A (and soon 2B). Things should continue to improve this spring with the re-opening of 2E's boarding area.

As a person who flew that flight in June of last year, I, along with 20 others going to MUC, misconnect to lines in immigration. As a person who works in the airline industry, hope for the best, plan for the worst!

I did a comfortable connection from 2E to 2F last Monday. Arrived from EZE at 11.00, continued at VCE at 12.35. Had enough time for a slow coffee in AF lounge inside 2F, even with EZE arrival to the remote parking position (and all PAX were bussed to terminal)

If it is not for the sake of miles, take the non-stop flight operated by LH A-340-300.

If you do go via CDG, I also would opt for the latter MUC-CDG flight so that your baggage can hopefully make it as well. CDG is unfortunately an airport famous for mishandling of baggage.

This is the flight that I usually take, but this trip I'm flying into MUC and out of CDG. I could (and may) book the whole trip on LH (and return CDG-FRA-BOS), but AF's J-class fare is almost $1000 cheaper than LH's right now.

btw, I've done a five-day BOS-MUC-BOS J-class trip every spring for the past few years and have been able to get discounted J-class tickets for about $2700 RT. This year, they're no where in site. Anyone have any idea why?
