FI - Why Only 1 757-300?

Icelandair have lots of 757-200s but only one -300... why is this?

They originally ordered two and received one but since Boeing was stopping their production they made a deal with Icelandair to not receive delivery of the second one. Icelandair would probably have ordered more of them but since they aren´t made anymore that is out of the question.

I hope they keep the single example flying for a long time. I was dissapointed with the lack of success of the 753, particularly with European charter airlines only Condor and TCX having them.

And Arkia, if you regard Israel as part of Europe. Their B757-300s operate mainly within Europe anyway.

It is odd to operate one 753, but at least has full commonality with the 752. It seems that the 753 operators around the world are all happy with their 753 fleets. You can't beat the economics of the 753 at least for single aisles.

Yes. I think the 753 would have been a good fit for likes of BY/TOM and XL almost offering the capacity of their old 762s and at a lower seat mile cost. Shame really.
